New Martyr Demetrius at Constantinople (1784)

Commemorated on January 27

He served in an inn, in the city of Galata, near Constantinople, as a footman. The Turks tried to get him to accept Islam. Because of a lie about wounding a Turk and for not willing to reject Christ, he, after being tortured, was beheaded in 1784, being 25 years old.
