Visit of Miraculous Myrrh-Streaming Icon

On Saturday morning July 16, 2016 the faithful of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church was granted the blessing to greet the wonder-working myrrh-streaming Iveron Icon of the Theotokos from Hawaii. This was the icon’s third visit to our parish since 2011. Fr. John with Fr. Deacon Michael led the moleben service and akathist before the icon adorned with many flowers. Approximately 90 people, including many guests, filled the temple for the moleben and akathist which was sung in both English and Slavonic. The faithful offered to the Theotokos fervent prayers moistened with many tears and compunction. At the end of the service, Fr. John anointed everyone with myrrh from the icon. The icon was streaming so abundantly throughout the service, that large drops of myrrh were indisputably seen dripping into the cotton below the icon. The heavenly fragrance of the myrrh filled the entire church. Afterwards, the icon was processed to the church hall where we enjoyed light refreshments and warm fellowship. We sincerely thank Subdeacon Nectarios, the care-taker of the icon, for coming to our parish. And we are grateful to everyone at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in Beltsville for coordinating the icon’s visit to our city. O Most-Holy Theotokos save us!

O Most Holy Trinity, Our God, Glory to Thee!
